DIAPER SIZE GUIDE
Find a starting diaper size.
Use your baby's current weight for the best starting point. If you do not have a recent weight, age can give you a rough estimate.
Weight is the better guide. Diaper sizing varies by brand, so always check the pack and let fit guide the final choice.
Suggested starting size
Size 2
Size names and weight ranges vary between brands. Always check the range printed on the diaper pack.
What good fit looks like

Possibly too small
- Waistband feels tight or leaves red marks
- Marks around the thighs or waist
- Tabs struggle to reach the centre
- Poor coverage at the back
Possibly too loose
- Visible gaps around the thighs
- Waistband sags or slides down
- Loose around the back
- Leaks despite a clean diaper
Time to size up when
What may come next
If Size 2 is starting to feel snug, the next common size is Size 3, often beginning around 8.5 kg (19 lb). Brand ranges vary, so check the pack before stocking up.
Diaper sizing is based on your baby's weight and set by each brand, so ranges overlap and differ between brands. Always check the weight range on the pack, and let fit be your guide rather than age. The age estimate uses typical median growth and is a rough starting point only. This is a general guide, not medical advice.
